Sonny's Choice
Alexis and Carly both want Sonny. And Sonny has to choose between them. This tortured triangle (last we checked, neither lady had him) has sparked a fiery debate among die-hard General Hospital fans. Everyone has something at stake, especially Carly, Alexis and Sonny, but most of all, GH, which doesn't want to alienate either camp.
"I think the audience is enjoying it because you don't know what's coming next," muses Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), speaking for the Sexis supporters. At Just Breathe, the Sonny and Alexis Website, lexisgal wonders, "Which will come first-will our favorite couple declare their love to each other, or will they make love?" If Grahn has it her way, Alexis won't be saying those three little words anytime soon. "It's clear she has feelings for him," the actress allows. Alexis has finally admitted those feelings to herself. "But I don't want a strong independent woman to become Florence Nightingale. What's unspoken is what makes it attractive to me. Once you start talking about it, you throw water on the fire. Also, I'm playing a woman who would die before she would admit it. So, if I ever say those words out loud, if it's not the right time, know that I've been forced," Grahn adds laughing.
Sonny and Carly fans fear a Sonny/Alexis romance is inevitable, and it could be since Sonny can't waffle between the women forever. "[Alexis and Sonny] seem to have more hope for the future [under] the current regime than Sonny and Carly do," sighs sonnyluvscarly at Wicked-games.com.
As far as Carly is concerned, it's a done deal. "She already thinks he's pursing a relationship with Alexis," offers Tamara Braun (Carly). "No matter what Zander or anyone says, she believes it's true. She believes they are having their thing, their affair, now. She's trying to deal with it with some sense of dignity, especially in front of Sonny and Alexis, but in private it's eating her up."
This week, Sonny will make a shocking admission to Alexis, but Carly still has one big advantage over her rival. "He is now the father of her child," Braun notes. So if Alexis and Sonny's relationship did not reach the next level, Carly could use Michael, creating a major stumbling block.
That's a hitch that should keep fans of both couples at odds and-lucky for GH-tuned in. * --JG

-Dr. Gilda Carle weighs in: "Well Carly is the ex-wife, so he already proved that he can't get along with her. And Alexis is obviously attracted-at least on some level-to the bad boy in Sonny, and she thinks she's going to save him. She is going to enact the role as savior. Since he's already tried and failed with Carly, obviously Alexis is the one. Alexis would give Sonny a run for his money." *--SB
